Dear Sir/Madam,
I have recently learned that 133 acres of the 852 acre Robinson State Park in Agawam, Mass. are scheduled to be logged/harvested/clear-cut. I am very concerned about the impact that this logging project will have on this small, beautiful, healthy and highly used state park. The State has changed their plan from cutting a couple hundred diseased red pines to logging 2700 soft and hardwood trees. Robinson State Park is a wonderful rural haven in an otherwise urban environment and is enjoyed by thousands of people in the greater Agawam area, including Connecticut.
Robinson State park has been called the "finest, most diversified forest" not only in Massachusetts, but in all of New England by a nationally known arborist. Diminishing the wilderness experience in the park will be a great loss, in addition to the loss or threat to fish, mammals, insects and birds.
I would like you to know that I am opposed to any logging/harvesting/clear-cutting that will alter the natural beauty and sustainability of Robinson State Park, and I would appreciate it if you could apprise me of your views and position on this proposal. I look forward to your response and position on this important matter.Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
John/Jane Doe, Agawam, MA
